Water Safety Awareness & Fund Raising Event

Swimmers: Chris Boucher and Sharon Blegg
We
aim to raise $10,000 for the creation of a new Open Water Safety and
Survival Day; developed and run in association with the Bairnsdale Aquatic
and Recreation Centre (BARC) and Lakes Entrance Aquadome and Recreation Centre
(LARC). It will be available to all students in grades 5 and 6 in 2016, from
over 30 East Gippsland schools.
Currently,
no school swimming programs in East Gippsland
cater specifically to open water
safety.
Some quick stats: It only takes 20 seconds to drown. Of the top
3 drowning locations, Rivers/Creeks/Streams are #1 & Beaches are # 3.
We need your help to raise
$10,000 to develop this program.
