Basketball is Going Well

This term we have 5 student teams and 1 dads and staff team. Our youngest bunch are Mr Floyd's team who are a mixture of grade 1,2,3 and 4 students. They have had 2 games and are improving out of sight.

Jarryd Floyd handing out some pieces of basketball wisdom! For the record they only lost by 3 points this week.
China Trip - What a Wonderful Experince!

In the September School holidays a group of 22 stduents, parents and staff travelled to China to visit our sister school in Changshu. It was a very special time to reconnect with students that we had hosted back in Paynesville. It was also nice to meet their parents and spend some quality time together. As well as meeting up with our friends in Changshu we also visited Shanghai (Just an amazing and modern city of 26 million people), Suzhou (Canals, Gardens and Markets), X'ian (Walled city and home of the terracotta warriors) and finally Beijing (The Sqaure, The Forbidden City and the Geat Wall).

Here we are outside our sister school in Changshu. We had just enjoyed a tour of their kindergarden.

Steven and Jo McKinnon with Kevin, and David and the twins parents. The McKinnon Family hosted the boys when they visited with their school earlier this year. Both families are friends for life.

In Shanghai after a long day of markets, temples and gardens the boys are looking a bit dusty!

Nick and Jaime Fordham loved walking along the Great Wall. The cable car up and the toboggan ride down were pretty good too!!!

Thankyou to everyone that joined us on this amazing adventure. A big word of congratulations to all of the children who flew to China and went on a real adventure - while still in primary school!!

Reconciliation Week at Paynesville Primary

Assembly on Monday was a wonderful way to start Reconciliation Week. Guests included Lynn Soloman - Dent and Nathaniel Van Delden. The hall was packed with students, parents, grandparents and pre-schoolers. Students left their handprint on the school mural and the choir sang beautifully.

As the week has continued all grades have headed to the Krowathunkoolong (Keeping Place) in Bairnsdale to learn more about local Indigenous history and culture. Rob Hudson has been teaching the students about pre-european life in East Gippsland and the students have loved the learning.
