Open Water Safety Awareness & Fund Raising Event
Swimmers: Chris Boucher and Sharon Blegg

We aim to raise $10,000 for the creation of a new Open Water Safety and Survival Day; developed and run in association with the Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre (BARC) and Lakes Entrance Aquadome and Recreation Centre (LARC). It will be available to all students in grades 5 and 6 in 2016, from over 30 East Gippsland schools.

Currently, no school swimming programs in East Gippsland
cater specifically to open water safety.

Some quick stats: It only takes 20 seconds to drown. Of the top 3 drowning locations, Rivers/Creeks/Streams are #1 & Beaches are # 3.
We need your help to raise $10,000 to develop this program.
Please donate as an individual, business or organisation to: mycause.com.au/page/87116/theeastgippslandlakesopenwaterswimchallenge
Find and support the swimmers on Facebook: facebook.com/EGlakesopenwaterswimchallenge

This event is supported by; Bairnsdale Aquatic & Recreation Centre, Lakes Entrance Aquadome & East Gippsland Shire.

Fostering International Relations

Last Wednesday we were fortunate enough to have Students and Staff arrive from ChangShu Shimao Experimental Primary School in China.  The students are being hosted with Paynesville Primary School families and are spending 7 nights / 8 days exploring the Australian way of life.  Students have been participating in classes and also seeing the sights of the area.  The Chinese visitors along with their Australian hosts have had the pleasure of a boat ride on the Gippsland Lakes, looked for Koalas on Raymond Island and will also be heading to the majestic Buchan Caves.  Their visit concludes with a day at Federation University in Churchill where all schools involved in the Sister School Program will come together.  We are very fortunate to participate in these programs which create meaningful relationships now and into the future.

Please see the press release for information about the China Sister School Program that we are so fortunate to be apart of.   DEECD - Press Release

TERM 3

Hopefully everyone is rested and ready for a busy Term 3.

We have some exciting activities planned for this Term.

Our Kitchen Garden Festival is Scheduled for the 2nd August, this year - so mark this date in your diaries and start cleaning out cupboards.  We are after donations of;  Books, sporting equipment, toys.  We are also after volunteers - if you can help out - even for 1 hour please let us know.

During August our Grade 6 students will be heading off to Melbourne for a two night adventure camp.

We also have our International visitors arriving this month.  Paynesville will once again be hosting visitors from China.  These visitors are students at our sister school in Changshu.  We look forward to the opportunity to foster our International connections and re-establish friendships which have been made earlier.

Have a great Term.
